Homes for rent in Taksony

Taksony is the small town on the left bank of the Soroksár Danube, directly south of Dunaharaszti and across the water from Szigetszentmiklós, with about 6,500 people. It is not on Csepel Island, though it feels part of the same world: the H6 HÉV runs through it and crosses the river here onto the island, route 51 passes along its eastern side, and the river bank with its boat houses and summer houses is the same slow arm that Dunaharaszti has upstream. The village has Swabian roots, a baroque church on the main street and a core of long plots and single-storey houses.

It is the most village-like of the towns in this group, with one main street, a few shops, a school and a lot of quiet. People move here from Dunaharaszti and the southern districts for a cheaper house with a bigger garden, and they keep their car. With both the HÉV and a MÁV stop it is better connected than its size suggests.

Detached houses almost without exception: old village houses on long plots along the main street, 1970s to 1990s family houses on the streets behind, newer detached builds on the southern edge and converted summer houses along the river. There are no block estates and only a handful of small apartment buildings, so a two-room flat is an occasional find and a one-room flat is rare enough that the figure here is a guide, not a market. The typical kiadó ház is two or three bedrooms with a large garden, a garage or carport and gas heating; many come with fruit trees the owner will mention.

By the river, ask about groundwater and damp; the bank streets are low and the summer houses were not built for winter. In the old houses check the heating, the windows and the sewer connection. Owners here let directly and know each other, so a good reference goes a long way, and a longer lease can bring the rent down.
