Pilisborosjenő is a village of about four thousand people tucked into a valley directly north of district III, behind Üröm and Csillaghegy, with the Nagy-Kevély ridge closing it off to the north and the Kis-Kevély above the old centre. It borders district III along the Ürömhegy side. The road in from Óbuda passes through Üröm and ends here, which keeps through traffic out; the only way on is a forest road to Pilisvörösvár that most drivers avoid.
The village has a primary school, a kindergarten, a doctor, a small supermarket and a couple of restaurants, and not much else by design. Shopping is in Óbuda or Pilisvörösvár. What it offers is silence, a view of the Kevély, the trails to the Teve-szikla rock and the Csobánka saddle, and detached houses at a rent below Üröm or Solymár. The film studio on the road out towards Üröm is the one landmark that is not a hill.

Getting around
- By car: through Üröm to Bécsi út and Óbuda, about 15 to 20 minutes off-peak and 30 to 45 minutes to Árpád híd in the morning rush; Bécsi út is the slow part.
- Volánbusz from Árpád híd and Óbuda through Üröm, 30 to 40 minutes to Árpád híd, roughly every half hour at peak and hourly otherwise.
- The nearest railway station is Üröm on the Esztergom line, a few minutes by car or bus, with trains to Nyugati in about 25 minutes.
- A car is close to essential; the bus works for a daily commute but the timetable thins early.
What the homes are like
Almost the entire market is detached houses: old village houses on the narrow streets of the centre, 1980s to 2000s family houses on the slopes, and the newer Malomdűlő estate of detached and semi-detached homes on the Üröm side. Plots are hillside and often steep. Flats are very rare, usually a separate floor of a house; the one-room figures here are for a room or a studio in a house rather than a true flat.
Heating is gas or mixed gas and wood; ask about the cost of heating an older house in a cold valley, the state of the access road in snow, and whether a converted weekend house has proper insulation and mains sewage.
Who it suits
Families and couples who want hills, quiet and a garden close to Óbuda, and who drive. It suits people who hike or ride, and those working in district III or the northern office corridor. It does not suit anyone without a car, or anyone who wants a flat, a lively centre or a short trip to Pest.
